working title - is a artist run mobile initiative for critical thinking and experimentation that focuses on the power of artistic practice. We see ourselves as a place for friendship, shared learning, and the exchange of knowledge.
The initiative manifests in different formats — as exhibitions, readings, music sessions, talks, workshops, and publications. Our focus is on collaboration, openness, and a willingness to unlearn in dialogue with the places and communities we work with. As a collective learning platform, working title brings people together. From this, we collectively develop alternatives for artistic work. We are interested in processes that support the formation of new narratives for a future in which the hierarchies of today no longer apply.
Our subjective experiences and those of our collaborators serve as the starting point for our work. Beyond questions of origin, we include other dimensions of social experience. Specifically, we foreground the realities of life that have often received less attention in the past due to powerful exclusions. In this way, one’s own reality and habits of curatorial work are immediately and critically questioned. How can we stay aware of unconscious prejudices and power dynamics? What kinds of people do we have in mind? Who creates visibility and access for whom? And who benefits from it?
We want to expose and work against prevailing, historically developed power structures and knowledge systems in art practice, theory, and teaching. It’s about not viewing marginalized perspectives as deficient but about unlearning a deficient system whose foundation we fundamentally question.
